This program entails the police calling a senior citizen’s house once a day at a designated time chosen by the senior. This call is done as a courtesy to make sure the senior citizen is doing okay and has no life threatening emergency.
The Fire Department also offers free fire detectors to senior citizens. The supply is limited, so please call the Fire Department at 344-1210 to reserve your fire detector.
Cooling & Warming Centers
The Village of Melrose Park offers its residents warming or cooling centers. These centers may involve overnight stays depending on the extremity of the weather. Call 343-4000 or 345-4350 on days of extreme hot or cold weather to learn of the location of the nearest warming or cooling center.
